The Mustard Tree
Trust was founded in 2002. We are a
Christian charity with an emphasis on children and young people. The Trust is managed by a board of
trustees and employs one full-time children’s worker, one part-time youth
worker and a part-time administrator.
The Mustard Tree
Trust has its roots in schools work and this remains at the heart of what
we do. Our children’s worker
delivers regular assemblies in a number of local first schools and,
additionally, runs a lunchtime club in one of them. Both workers also jointly run an
after-school club in a local middle school.
In 2008, we opened an after-school ‘Drop-In’ in the centre of
town, designed to provide a safe and welcoming venue for local
teenagers. Other youth initiatives
include a ‘Mettle’ group (Christian youth group) and a monthly, ecumenical
youth service.
Where possible, we work in partnership with schools, churches,
local councils and other youth-focused organisations to provide young
people with opportunities to develop their gifts and skills and to take on
responsibility for pioneering new initiatives in schools, churches and the
local community.
The Trust has well-established links with ‘Youth for Christ’
and ‘Scripture Union’.
We are keen to form links from this site to
others with similar interests and aims– if you would like to be part of
this reciprocal support please contact us.
